What You Must Remember When Looking For VW Camper Vans For Sale

Vintage car enthusiasts should look into VW Camper Vans For Sale. Nothing is more 60′s and 70′s classic than these colorful hippie rides. Just like the VW bug, the camper vans have never really gone out of style. It is still a pleasure to see one on the streets, especially if it has been nicely restored.

 

But before looking into VW camper vans for sale, there are certain things one has to take note of. It is always easy to buy an old vehicle…maintaining it is quite a different story. Inspecting and knowing what to inspect are crucial factors in purchasing a worthwhile VW camper van.

 

Most VW camper vans for sale are fully restored, at least externally. They might come to be so irresistible with colorful, glossy paint finish, all leather seats and possibly a flower vase on the dash. But these camper vans are decades old, so be wary with underlying problems which will be source of really big headache. Look out for rust especially on the bottom part, the chassis on front, roof gutters, below window sills, bottom panels, wheel arches. Rust is the worst enemy of the camper van and is the most expensive to fix.

 

Gears of volkswagen camper vans are naturally hard but watch out for leaks and unusual rumble. Look out for engine leeks and there shouldn’t be smoke coming out of the muffler. This might be a sign of more serious engine trouble. Lots of oil inside the engine compartment is also a sign of bad news.

 

Check out if all the controls are working, especially the heater or air-conditioning controls. If these are not working, chances are the whole mechanism, cables and wiring would be replaced and redone. If there is a petrol smell inside the camper van, chances are the rubber pipes in the tank are ready for replacement or worse, rust has penetrated the gas tank.

 

It is also best to hire the services of volkswagen experts when having a classic camper van repaired. It has parts that are old school, and many of which are already obsolete. An expert would know exactly how to go about the repairs.
